Fun With Photography

I’ve had an idea I’ve been toying with in my head for awhile, and I wanted to try it in real world application. Yesterday was a gorgeous day here in San Diego, perfect for a day of fun experimentations. I grabbed my big tripod and headed out to Sunset Cliffs to play in the afternoon light. My experiment was with Neutral Density Filters. ND Filters (for short) are simply filters that block a certain amount of light while taking a photograph. That allows the photographer to make very long exposures during the day which could be used to indicate a […]

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I’m writing this post watching the Monday Night Football game, all bundled up, very sick with the flu after my trip to Texas, (wow, I hope it isn’t the swine flu…) It was a very difficult week with only one day of rest, but very rewarding. Despite coming ill, I feel that during this past week I’ve produced the best work of my life. That being said, I’d like to take the time to say “Thank You” to a number of people that made my trip, and the soon to come photos, possible. First and formost I’d like to thank […]

Rain, A Blessing For Weddings

The last time it rained while I was at a wedding, I was in a little town called San Juanico in Baja California on a surf trip. San Juanico is just a dusty, and dirty fishing village about 800 miles south of San Diego, and is renowned for it’s very long right hand point break. The break is called Scorpion Bay and has attracted a small American ex-pat community. On this particular trip I was honored to be invited to attend the wedding reception for one of the surfer ex-pats and a local girl roughly half his age. The day […]

Ahh… A breathe of fresh air

Quite some time ago I used WordPress for my Rebuilding Thailand blog. It was strictly a blog site that chronicled my year as a volunteer after the 2004 tsunami, and the adventures that went along with it. When it came time to building a professional level site (this one) I ended up looking at ModX. For what it was worth it was a very rich content management system, but I found that it took a lot of time to learn the system, and in some circumstances even learning a new code structure. And the blogging software was rather clunky. And […]

Robert + Megan | San Diego Wedding | Four Seasons Aviara

I’ve been waiting for this for months! Robert + Megan’s wedding has finally come. I had a ton of fun with them when I [intlink id=”engagement-photography-usd-campus” type=”post”]photographed their engagement session in July[/intlink]. It was the biggest wedding I’ve photographed yet, and they went all out. The Four Seasons Aviara Club House on the golf course. It was a beautiful fall afternoon. What color we do get in San Diego was on display in golds, and oranges. And Megan and Robert’s friends and family were assembled en masse. As an aside… I’m also starting to develop a theory that all make-up […]
