Untouchable. Aka: Paul Caponigro’s Bride

I’ve had an overwhelming response to my last post about my entry in the latest PPSDC print competition. Some of it was very supportive and some was very critical about my comments and unprofessional attitude towards losing the print competition. I believe both ends have very valid messages. I will admit, I was very frustrated and upset over losing, but I hope that I did not take away the other photographer’s achievements in the competition. What I did notice is that I had a number of people very interested in the thought process and the technical process of achieving the […]

Robbed!

Honestly I was hoping to be writing this blog post in celebration. And maybe I should warn you, I may come off as a whiny, spoiled and misunderstood artist as you read this. And, I know a lot of you have been waiting to see this big secret I’ve been brewing since I was in Austin But… I’m incredibly upset by what happened at Tuesday night’s PPSDC, (Professional Photographers of San Diego County), Print Competition… Maybe it’s my fault for expecting to walk out with Best In Show, but I received the highest score out of all entries. I thought […]

Stewart Family | Destination Family Photography | Austin, TX

I was in Texas a few weeks back for a wedding in Houston, which worked out well for a number of photoshoots I had planned in Austin, as well as a nice “last minute” request from an old friend Jenn Stewart (who I knew in Austin, but also in San Diego from years back when her and her sister both ran the ultra cool downtown boutique, Villa Moda). Jenn, her husband Gary and their new addition Kai were looking for a new family photo for the upcoming holidays. Here are a few of my favorites from the session. What a […]

Jessa – Austin Shoot

I had been wanting to work with Jessa for awhile. She is a model in Austin and has worked with some very talented photographers. She’s really great with fine art modeling, and has incredible eyes, which is why I wanted to work with her in the first place. My original concept for Jessa was the first shot you see here.  A “Trash The Dress” idea, (one in a series of Bridal Portraits I will be sending to Grace Ormonde’s Wedding Style), with tuule being representative of the dress. The Congress Street Bridge in the background making this iconically Austin, and […]

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I’m writing this post watching the Monday Night Football game, all bundled up, very sick with the flu after my trip to Texas, (wow, I hope it isn’t the swine flu…) It was a very difficult week with only one day of rest, but very rewarding. Despite coming ill, I feel that during this past week I’ve produced the best work of my life. That being said, I’d like to take the time to say “Thank You” to a number of people that made my trip, and the soon to come photos, possible. First and formost I’d like to thank […]

Print Merit, Austin Next Week, and Amazing Dresses

PPSDC Print Merit Last night was the bi-monthly Professional Photographers of San Diego County print competition night. I had entered a photo I took while in Telluride, CO a couple weeks ago. If you follow the blog, you might have seen another version of it in another post. Well it received a “Merit” last night at the competition, which means that it scored at least an “80” from the judges on the panel. And believe me… These guys are TOUGH! The judging is the same level as the national PPA judging, so now I have a good idea of how […]

A Snowy Telluride Morning

I recently went on a road trip with a dear friend of mine to Telluride, Colorado. She was going to be assisting at a Ashtanga Yoga workshop, and I wanted to hit the road and do some shooting. This lovely morning I woke up to a dusting of snow on the sidewalk and it was on! I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I did taking them.

Seth, Jess & little Jaiden

I know Jessica through my best friends Chris and Tanya. Jessica is their cousin, whom I met years ago when Chris and I lived next door to each other downtown. She’s always been a warm, friendly and intelligent person, and I always enjoyed talking to her when she came by. Oh… and then there was the time when she double dog dared me to do the Running Man on top of a table at Chris’s wedding. Well, Jessica has gone on to build herself an amazing family with her husband Seth, a really incredible guy, and their newest addition, their […]

New T-Shirt and New Cause

As many of you know, I was a volunteer in Thailand after the Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004, and was there for a year helping build houses amongst other things. And when I heard about the earthquake off Samoa and the impending tsunami that was likely coming, I could only think of the destruction I saw while in Thailand and knew what was in store for the Samoans. In light of the damage that has happened to Samoa and American Samoa, I have decided to offer a $4 discount on all T-Shirts and apparel at my CafePress store through November […]
