When Meg first called me to photograph their wedding, her and Don were still living in Okinawa, Japan (stationed with the Marines). I had mentioned that I was born in Japan, and we just seemed to hit it off really well. We spoke for about an hour on the phone and I got to here all about Don’s orders to move to San Diego, and their plans for their wedding and all the life stuff they were going through as part of being part of the military.
I was honored when they selected me as their wedding photographer, and even more so when I got to meet them in person and find out what a kind soul Don was (even for a Marine). And how full of life Meg was. No matter what was happening it seemed impossible to wipe her big smile off her face.
They had a modest Marine wedding at the MCRD Chapel and an exquisite reception at the Japanese Friendship Gardens in Balboa Park. The highlight of the night was the Dance-Off between Don and Meg’s brother Ben. Below you’ll see Don’s famous Rain-Bird Sprinkler dance that was the clincher.
It was truly a joy being your wedding photographer guys, and I’m delighted you’ll be living in San Diego now.
