Driving into Loreto from the South is a funny thing. It’s all desert and scrub brush until you climb a small hill, veer left and then all of a sudden you’re welcomed with the Sea of Cortez. It’s a magical moment if you’ve been driving in the heat, from Insurgentes or Constitución for a few hours.

Juncalito is a little village nestled in a tidal estuary and hugged by a small offshore island of volcanic rock, beautiful homes are built right on this strip of land, and on this day, with the storm brewing, and the sun on it’s way down, the houses just glowed and the Sea of Cortez showed off its moody side.

It was a beautiful sight after that drive from the South.
